Understanding disease early improves treatment options and outcomes for patients. Patients in the region now benefit from access to charity facilities, which are delivering state-of-the-art, lifesaving diagnostic scanning. We are also at the forefront of research in this area, and are developing new diagnostic tests for cancer, heart disease and dementia related illnesses. It is the aim of the charity to help balance health inequality and reduce waiting lists, whilst providing the latest approved diagnostic tests, alongside access to next-generation technologies through clinical trials.
We help improve the survival chances of thousands of people each year and give users of our services and their families a brighter future.
We exist to give faster, more accurate, diagnosis for three of the region’s biggest killers – cancer, heart disease, and dementia. With cures still a long way off, early diagnosis still offers the best chance of survival.
Continuing to invest in new facilities and improve our existing equipment and capabilities will allow us to continue to detect diseases quicker and more accurately, ultimately leading to better patient outcomes.
We expect an increase in scan capacity to 7200 scans per annum working on weekdays and 9000 scans working extended weekdays and Saturdays with the GE Omni scanner, the latest in digital PET-CT scanners which will upgrade and replace our existing PET-CT scanner. This will not only provide the NHS needs of our care network but also provide capacity for research which has been hampered due to the increasing NHS demands allow capacity for research. Our capability to produce radiotracers on-site at MIRC and scan on a state-of-the-art digital scanner will add further impetus to local research, attract commercial research, for the benefit of patients in the region.
100% of the donations received go to fund vital lifesaving research and provision of medical scanning facilities.
Please note all funds are used in full by the charity to further its objectives.
