David has worked on the MIRC project since 2020 in a joint role between the University of Hull and NHS Trust. He has been crucial in the development of the facility, providing specialist cyclotron knowledge and radiochemistry laboratory design. David left the University in January 2025 to join us full time as a Cyclotron & Radiochemistry Technician. He brings a vast experience to the team, with a PhD in Chemistry and more than 8 years working in the radiochemistry field, specialising in radioisotope production.
David says:
“The GENtrace 7.8 MeV cyclotron installed at MIRC enables small-scale, cost-effective production of fluorine-18 and carbon-11. These radionuclides are the starting point for synthesising new PET radiotracers that will enhance diagnostic imaging and improve patient outcomes across the region.”
In his spare time, David enjoys photography, running a self-hosted home server, video gaming, and - when the weather is nice - cycling.
100% of the donations received go to fund vital lifesaving research and provision of medical scanning facilities.
Please note all funds are used in full by the charity to further its objectives.
