From Theft to Triumph: Donations Flood In for Daisy Appeal After Easter Appeal Incident

At Daisy Appeal, we are constantly reminded of the extraordinary kindness that exists within our communities - and recently, the people of Goole have shown just how powerful that spirit can be.

What began as a heartfelt Easter egg appeal organised by the Goole Vikings RLFC and Goole Vikings Supporters Club took an unexpected turn when a trolley filled with more than 30 donated Easter eggs - intended for children on the Disney Ward at Scunthorpe General Hospital - was stolen from Tesco on Boothferry Road.

It was a disheartening moment for organiser Mark Skinn and everyone involved. Yet, what followed tells a far more powerful story.

In the face of disappointment, the community responded with overwhelming generosity. After Mark shared the news on social media, support surged almost instantly. Donations poured in from individuals, local businesses, and community groups, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to ensuring children in hospital would still receive a special Easter treat.

Tesco quickly stepped in to replace the stolen eggs and introduced a secure donation point, reinforcing the collective determination to make the appeal a success.

But the story did not stop there.

As contributions continued to grow - surpassing 163 donations and raising £1,180 - the appeal expanded beyond its original scope. Easter eggs were then delivered to three local hospitals with children’s wards, spreading joy even further across the region. Meanwhile, the monetary donations have been generously directed to support Daisy Appeal, helping us continue our vital work in advancing life-saving diagnostics and treatment across Yorkshire.
